What does it mean when you wake up sweating and really dizzy?

I went to bed last night feeling great, I woke up this morning dizzy, like the room was spinning, so I went back to sleep for another hour and most of the dizziness was gone. I am still rather dizzy but it is manageable and I have been awake for 4 hours now.

This has never happened before, so what could it be? Do I really need to worry about it?
Answer:
See a dr right away that is not normal unless u been drinking...lol
It means the room is too hot.
Seriously, have you had your blood sugar checked?

What does it mean when you suddenly get a horrible pain?

In your stomach, yet you did not eat anything but crackers and drank a cup of coffee with creamer hours before which normally does not bother you? Is this serious? How can one know if it is serious? The pain was awful until drinking more coffee, strangely enough.
Answer:
Hmm, could it have been a gas bubble? I had a stabbing pain once like that and then one day my sister asked my cousin who is a nurse a question very similar to yours and she said it was a gas bubble most likely. I have had that happen to me twice and a few days ago it was bad. I had to yell out loud. Reminded me some of when my kids were inside me kicking my ribs. lol

What does it mean when you get random nose bleeds for no reason?

My fiance gets them all the time for no reason and says he has his whole life. Why?
Answer:
Given that I'm not a doctor, I can only express my hearsay opinions, so it's possible that it's a generic sinus disorder, or your home is extremely dry inside, or he has high blood pressure, or there are tiny aliens inside of his nose mining for human boogers, of which supply much needed salt and protein for the little buggers;) LOL
Sinus problems?
i think its a genetic tissue in ur nose.i think u cant do anything about it.
What does it mean? It means he should see a doctor. If it happens often, he needs a medical opinion.

Enjoy your day.

PS, Love your kitty avatar!
Well, one explaination is that he has been abducted by aliens. ;)

The other is that he simply has a very thin layer of nasal skin, i advise him to blow gently, not pick and if the problem persists see a doctor who can refer him to an Ear, nose and throat specialist.
My Grandson gets them,The Dr. said it's from weak membranes in his nose. I get them from high blood pressure once in awhile.
Also I get them when my sinus's act up.
Could be weak sinus. Could be he needs to go to the DR and get checked out so he doesn't exsanguinate!
it could be high blood pressure
some people just get random nose bleeds. the next he goes to the doctor just ask them if its normal to get that many nose bleeds.
My daughter does all the time too, my doctor said it's a combination of allergy irritation and dry air, she's been better since she had a humidifier by her bed at night. It's a spontaneous break in the little veins from drying out and stretching was how he explained it..
Well I'm no doctor, but could be about a million things from allergy, through atmospheric conditions to a cold, through stress and a zillion things.

If they persist no harm in getting yourself down the doctor's though.
its a common disorder many people have, they are born with their blood vessels closer to the surface inside their nose. therefore making them easier to puncture.
I know people like that and theyv'e been to doctors who say its nothing to worry about, it sure as hell sounds like something to worry about. Cute Avatar. ; )
dry air, she should use saline nose drops, or it could be her blood vessels in her nose are too thin, and easily break.
He's not satified with himself. Is he pushing himself too hard to show that he is able to do things as well as others?
Maybe it is just a infection or maybe it runs through the family. well ya
Could be due to defect in blood, high blood pressure, abnormal septum of nose.
It runs in my family too and there are a number of reasons why. There is a thin wall protecting the blood vessels in your nassal passage. In some people this wall is thinner then others. Dry air and increased blood pressure cause this wall to rupture. I had to have a humidifier in my room when I was younger but now I only need one when the air gets really dry. My son gets a nose bleed when ever he gets excited. There are moisturizers that can help but I would recommend a humidifier for your house.
ur fiance must see a doctor soon cause nose bleeding could be a sign for a heart problem . i wish he'll get better soon
He probably has a perforated blood vessel in his nose or sinus cavity. A Doctor can detect it by doing a simple visual check. If a rupture or a scab is detected, it could then be cauterized stopping the bleeding. I would advise that he NEVER picked his nose and don't blow to hard, as these practices can blow out a weak blood vessel with relative ease.
It could be from a low humidity or dryness in the air...I used to get them often in the winter when the air was very dry...Is it seasonal?
My son has this problem from time to time. He has been to doctors for this problem on several occasions. It happens most of the time when he's engaged in physical activities such as running on a hot day. He can also have a nose bleed if it gets to warm(dry air) in his room at night. I have noticed that whenever he drinks a lot of water and his room is properly ventilated the problem isn't nearly as bad during the summer months.

Other reasons for frequent nose bleeds:

1. External injury to the nose
2. Excessive nose blowing
3. Breathing very dry air
4. Removing crusts from the nose
5. Nose Tumor(MRI)
6. High blood pressure
7. Excessive physical exercise

Any of the above symptoms can trigger a nose bleed.
he probably has thin veins in his nose that are easily ruptured.

What does it mean when you fall asleep all the time?

And you are seventy seven years old.
Answer:
If the sleepiness is only now occuring then Idiopathic hypersomnia and narcolepsy are less likely as they usually occurr when someone is younger. The risk of sleep apnea increases with age, however. This is where someone stops breathing in their sleep briefly. With age people are also more likely to have health problems. Any number of health problems and medications could make one sleepy. The only way to find out is have a thourough workup by doctors including a sleep study.
You are tired! Thats a lot of years.

But seriously it could be a number of things I thinks it's best to discuss with Dr.
Narcolepsy?

What does it mean when you dream about strangers?

People i have no clue who they are, never seen before play a major part in some dreams i have, what does this mean? are they people i will someday meet, or figments of my imagination?
Answer:
What a fun question! I love stranger dreams. In fact, my most vivid and longest dreams involve people I have never met, yet in the dream, I feel they are deeply a part of my life. Sometimes I go spiritual and think they are they friends of all eternity-like soulmates. Other times, I think they are a trick of the brain-creating the ultimate feelings of joy or drama by creating a fictional person that represents myself in some way. They could be premonition dreams too. Best is to write down your dreams and feelings and anything that you cannot explain after thinking about might be a premonition.
Maybe they are just the persons which apt to remind you what you must do when this or that things come!

My advise:

"Don't get too much affected by this weird persons you see in your dreams! Pay attention to the people whom you have now! More likely!"

Good Luck! and God Bless!
i know exactly what you mean. sometimes i have this dream that i live in the student ghetto in kalamazoo again, but the house is one that i have never been in. plus, i have this huge fish tank that s like 5000 gallons. those are probably people that you unconsciencely have seen. sometimes i dream into the future too. i dream up something and then like 3 years later i'll have that deja vu. enjoy!
go to harbor oaks..ya wacko =)

What does it mean when you could fall asleep as soon as you be still?

Answer:
You are definitely tired and have probably been awake for way too long.
Narcolepsy
Apparently you are tired.

What does it mean when the tailbone is very painful and swollen?

My dad is complaining of pain and swelling. Can hardly walk, but he never fell or hit his tailbone anywhere to cause this. He doesn't work in an office or anything to be sitting for long periods of time. I thought this was strange, anyone have an experience like this?
Answer:
Pilonidal cyst
He may have a cyst. He should go to a doctor.

What does it mean when the doctor says your son's MRI shows smoother than normal surface on the brain ?

It's normally wrinkled in most people. He is autistic and Developmentally disabled. He is twenty three now, the MRI was done about three years ago, when he started having seizures.
Answer:
Lissencephaly is an abnormally smooth brain surface resulting from a neuronal migration disorder. It is caused by a chromosomal abnormality, and can be associated with seizures and developmental disability. This condition is more common is children, but forms of it can be seen in adults. Best to consult the doctor for a complete explanation of what is going on.

Here are some sites with info that may be helpful:
http://www.ghg.net/lissnet/about/lissen.
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/foliot/liss...
http://www.healthnewsflash.com/condition...
Things are harder for him to learn. But he can learn ,,,I don't have to tell you that.
I think the doctor is trying to describe to you that your son's brain does not have the usual pattern of "sulci and gyri" - the wrinkles you mention.

This can be related to the autism and developmental delay. I'm not sure it explains seizures.

Have a look at the wiki pages (don't worry too much about the gobbledygook that's there - look at some of the pictures)

Then have a look at the pictures of the brain MRI's on the google image search.

You can see the wrinkled appearance of the brain surface.

If you have your son's MRI to compare with, you might be able to see a difference. Or it might be a little subtle.
When a doctor tells you something (regardless of how simple it may sound) and can not give you a detailed explaination of what it really means in terms of health, symptoms, or recovery.. they are typically either unsure of how to read the results or are trying to be evasive. Unintentionally or not.
It could mean a million different things. And I am almost certain nobody here can give you the answer that will be right for your situation.
I would encourage you to either ask the doctor for an explaination or find a doctor that can satisy your desire to be more involved with the illness from a clinical standpoint.
There is a lot of information for Autism out there.. and you will be able to figure things out based on what you can see in your situation that we can't. Educate yourself as much as you can about this. Knowledge will certainly lessen the amount of frustration.
Good Luck :)

What does it mean when just your toes trun bright red and hot?

Answer:
That somebody just gave you a hot foot? ha ha

Okay seriously I think I would go visit the doctor.
I'm not really sure. It may be some sort of inflammation, infection or circulatory problems. How about calling your doctor and letting him or her (or the answering service) know about your toes that are hot and bright red and seeing what your physician suggests. Wishing you the best.
yes, I am like that now. It means I have spent way too long on my feet today and I need to rest.
You didn't say if you had any other health problems, but if you are a diabetic you can experiance circulartory problems with your feet and legs. The other is you could have a blood clot, but in both feet is highly unlikely. This also could be afletes foot but that is always accompanied by severe itching between your toes.I would definatly see a doctor if you continue to have these symptoms,as no one can correctly diagnose you on yahoo as were not all MDs.GOOD LUCK!

What does it mean when you have a headache behind your eye?

Answer:
it is probably a cluster headache. i get them too. i get them every year or two. the cycles last for 3-6 weeks...and the pain is unbearable. do a search on cluster headaches. there are a lot of pages devoted to them.
oh my gosh, i get those all the time...when i'm reading for a long time or watching tv, or staring at the computer screen. i'm pretty sure it's just a headache.but im curious to see these answers
Maybe you just need new glasses Worked for me!
It means you have a headache behind your eye.

If you really mean PAIN behind the eye, some of the conditions that can cause pain in and around the eye and that aren't associated with trauma are problems with the eye itself, contact lens complications, migraine, conjunctivitis or any inflammation of the eyelids, eyestrain, narrow angle glaucoma and sinus problems.

If the pain you experience is frequent and/or debilitating, see your doctor or optometrist. If you require a referral to an ophthalmologist, you'll get one.
When that happens to me, it is because I have a "sensitivity" to temperature changes (not enough thyroxin for my body to adjust). If I become "hypersensitive" because I have experienced too much heat/cold, and then eat, due to calories in food I get pain as you described. If the weather changes and gets warmer/colder and I don't eat, the pain doesn't happen. Food seems to be the trigger, especially high calorie food, but it can also happen from overheating/overcooling to an extreme due to some other means like clothing over warm or not enough clothing on to stay warm. The immune system is the attacker that causes the pain. Hope this answer, if it applies, does help.

What does it mean to be a patient advocate?

Answer:
Someone who looks out for the general concerns of patients and represents them to significant others when necessary and takes on the task of acting as a go between.
someone who speaks between the patient and corporate powers that be - representing patient issues in that forum
like in a rehab or mental institution? it means you watch over the patients, take note of requests, questions, concerns and so on and look out for there safety and following of DR orders as well as any rules of other sorts. you then often report back to a treatment team or dr with your notes and observations.
To advocate for a person is to speak and directly secure help for a person. This SHOULD only be done when the person has exhusted their sitaution - tried all the places, talked to people, and done their best. Otherwise it leads to being dependent.
To be the voice for the patient to ask questions and communicate concerns with drs, etc in the best interest of the patient. When women come in sick and the dr gives them a Rx antibiotic, I ask the dr in front of the pt if they (the dr) wants the pt to call if they develop yeast infection symptoms or come in to be seen. This question is something that the pt may not normally think of, but is important for them to know so that they know they dont have to suffer or come in for an appt. just for a yeast infection. Sometimes drs forget to offer women pts this; the drs want them to know this, but sometimes forget. By asking on behalf of pt, is to advocate for the pt.
It basically means that you speak on the patients behalf and really look after them. Sometimes a patient is medicated and not coherent enough to make sound choices.
A patient advocate can help with these types of situations.
Example, we as parents must remain in the picture and be aware of all that is going on in regards to our childrens hospital car. I personally have a series of well meaning, supposedely educated staff treating my children for various things, I have seen them make some serious mistakes too, had I not been there to alert them to their errors, it scares me to think of the consequences. Don't be shy about being an advocate, especially where our children, parents and partner are at stack.

What does it mean if your stool is green ive been pooping green poop for the past week straight?

Answer:
Best Answer:

It has nothing to do with Martians or the planet Mars.

Normally foods with orange food coloring (Kool-Aid or soda pop) will result in green stool.
too much asparagus
Lots of salad or veggies
it means that you've been eating a lot of green food, you only have to worry if it's black, that would mean you have internal bleeding... otherwise, dont worry
Eating leafy green vegetables or foods that are high in iron can cause green stools. Also if you are taking vitamin supplements with iron. Sometimes eating foods with green food coloring can also cause it.
It could mean you have infection in your bowel. I work in a nursing home and when we see green B.M. there is usually infection somewhere.
To much sugar.

What does it mean if the whites of your eyes look yellow?

Answer:
The start of jaundice. Then your liver fails completely. Leave off the alcohol and seek medical treatment asap ! ! !
Could it be jaundice?
I think hepatitis. Time to call the doctor!
http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/sym/yellow...
There is a good chance that you are anemic - Iron tablets should help you.
you could have diabetes.
Yellowing of the eyes can be a sign of mild jaundice which is usually a sign of liver damage.

It can also be caused by certain medications.

Also anaemia, hepatitis, gall stones (or yellow fever!)
It means your liver is not detoxifying your blood. This can be caused by several things and is a serious condition. Need to get to a Doctor post haste.
You have jaundice. A problem with your liver. Possible hepatitis. Does this person drink alcohol to excess?
Needs to see MD ASAP
It can be a deficiency of some sort or can be an indication of jaundice - this is an increase of biliruben produced by your liver. Your doctor would need to determine the cause and treatment.
When the Scelra of the eyes is discoloured yellow, it could mean that you have liver problems. This is serious and you need to get checked out by a Dr, ring for an appointment TODAY!
you died.. or scarlet fever
Go talk to your doctor...it could be one of a million things...but the most dangerous would be undiagnosed hepatitis A/B/C.
You smoke WAY too much
It means you are jaundice. Your liver is not functioning properly and you have an elevation in the liver enzyme bilirubin. This can be caused by Hepatitis or alcoholism, but check with your physician.
It means you need to go to your GP and ask for a liver function test. ( It involves a sample of blood being taken and analysed). Take it from there and see how you go. Good luck.
Hepatitis - go an see your doctor asap
it means you got geondis.it's to do with your liver.go to the hospital right away it could even kill you if your liver fails.good luck
if you don' feel ill ,it could be catarrh and if you suffer sinuses it would more likely to be catarrh,or as some doctors say it could be you have high cholestral so i would say visit your dr.

What does it mean for Children to have high levels of protein in their urine?

My 12 year old son had to go to the dr. to be retest on his adhd. and they done a urine test and blood work. they called me and told me that he had a very high level of protein in his urine and that I was to come by and pick up another urine cup and collect some urine from him frist thing in the morning before he gets out of bed and bring it back to them as soon as possible. So they could do some test on it. If anyway possible I would like to know what to expect out of this so any answers I can get at this point will be wounderful. thank to you all for the answers.
Answer:
Well elevated globulin and albumin are NOT are a physical response to "ADHD" any more than chiropractors are doctors (Burn!)

I digress. I'm assuming he's on some sort of medication, I can't find anything that shows that it would increase total serum protein. It depends on how high its elevated, and I'd be wary of looking to much into it... it could be severe or it could be nothing, I'd rather not explain it, and let the pcp recheck after a week or so.

My guess is its a fluke, but your pcp is just being safe.
In children, protein in the urine is usually nothing. But, of course, your doctor wants to be sure, and he's absolutely doing the right thing to check further.

Sometimes, it can be a kidney disorder, a reaction to medication, an infection or injury, etc. (Proteinuria has a lot of causes.)

Wait until the tests come back, and the doctor will be able to tell you whether it's something to worry about, but it's probably not.
Not to sound mean but its going to be yellow. Other then that it doesn't mean anything there could be all kinds of things to cause it. Maybe the meds he is on if they put him on some for the ADHD.

This is going to sound mean but I will say it %26 hope it will do some good. ADHD just means that he needs his butt busted more %26 give him jobs to make him learn to be task oriented.

God bless %26 I will pray for you %26 your son.
urine - protein test is most often performed when kidney disease is suspected. It may be used as a screening test.

Normally, protein is not found in urine when a routine dipstick test is performed. This is because the kidney is supposed to keep large molecules, such as protein, in the blood and only filter out smaller impurities. Even if small amounts of protein do get through, they are normally re-absorbed by the body and used as a source of energy.

Some proteins will appear in the urine if the levels of protein in blood become high, even when the kidney is functioning properly.

If the kidney is diseased, protein will appear in the urine -- even if the blood levels are normal.

For a spot check by dipstick: the normal values are approximately 0 to 8 mg/dl. Normal value ranges may vary slightly among different laboratories.
For a 24-hour test: the normal value is less than 150 mg per 24 hours.
Note: mg/dl = milligrams per deciliter

Abnormal results may mean an increase in urine protein, and this may indicate:

Amyloidosis
Bacterial pyelonephritis
Bladder tumor
Congestive heart failure (inadequately perfusing the kidneys)
Diabetic nephropathy
Glomerulonephritis
Goodpasture's syndrome
Heavy metal poisoning
Lupus erythematosus
Malignant hypertension
Multiple myeloma
Nephrotic syndrome
Nephrotoxic drug therapy
Polycystic kidney disease
Preeclampsia

i just pray for your son that nothing is wrong with the result. good luck , may god bless your son

What does dying do to your hair?

How does it take the colour off (technically speaking)?
%26 And why does the hair look so damaged afterwards?
Can good creams and oils fix this?
And will it differ from one brand to another ?
Answer:
Dying is different from stripping. I Dye my hair every six weeks (to cover gray) and it always looks and feels healthy. If you strip the color from your hair and then reapply another color such as hot pink, there are more harsh chemicals involved which damage hair. Talk to your colorist about good conditioners and deep conditioners. Try giving your hair a break every once and a while.
it doesn't take the color off it covers whatever is natural with a dye that well...covers it. the dyes have chemicals that aren't necessarily good for your hair. yes, there are ways to fix it you should probably see a stylist or whoever did it to you. yea each brand is pretty different.

What does body scrubs, hydarting creams do?

Answer:
exfoliate and moisturise
Body scrubs exfoliate the skin. that is, they rub off the top layer of dead skin cells, which makes the skin look more radiant.
Hydrating creams just put moisture back into the skin, so it stays soft and supple
body scrubs are supposed to get rid of all the dead skin cells to reveal brighter fresher looking skin and hydrating creams are to stop the skin from drying out
Clean %26 moisturize the skin.
They get rid of dead skin and then put moisture back into it.
body scrubs exfoliate(remove) dead skin cells, and hydrating creams put moisture back into the skin when it is dry, like in cold weather or sun

What does a twitch mean?

I was just wondering what twitching means? My rabbit was recently paralyzed, but we're noticing her legs are starting to twitch. Does that mean her nerves could be healing and she could get the use of her bottom half back?
Answer:
why was your rabbit paralized, did it have a stroke, did it break it's neck somehow? By what you describe I think that's the end of your pet. Take him to the vet and have him put down to save him from a lot of pain. Twitching is a reaction from nerves in the body which makes the body jump. It could be a reaction of a live person, it could also be the reaction of an immediately deceased person or animal. Twitching could also mean seizures as in a stroke, or could be caused by a brain injury. Sorry to hear about your rabbit.
Generally, it means a sudden jerk. Maybe the rabbit has recovered from being paralyzed and for that, I believe that its nerves are healed already and doing so normal now. However, that could also be a reaction from its bitter condition. Better seek attention to a vet. Hope that helps

What does a tape worm actually look like?

Is it really a worm?
Answer:
Alternate Names : Beef Tapeworm, Pork Tapeworm, Taenia Saginata, Taenia Solium, Tapeworm, Teniasis

Taenesis is tapeworm infection.

Tapeworm infection is acquired by eating raw or undercooked meat of infected animals. Beef generally carry Taenia saginata while pigs carry Taenia solium. The larvae from the infected meat develop in the human intestine into the adult tapeworm -- which grows and can attain lengths greater than 12 feet.

Tapeworms are segmented, with each segment (proglottid) capable of producing eggs. Eggs are dispersed by individual or groups of proglottids detaching and passing out with the stool. The groups of proglottids from the beef tapeworm are capable of movement and actively crawl out through the anus.

Adults and children with tapeworm (T. solium, pork tapeworm only) can, if appropriate hygiene is lacking, become self-infected by ingesting eggs from their tapeworm which were picked up on their hands while wiping or scratching the anus.

Additionally, these individuals can expose other individuals to T. solium eggs, usually via food handling. Ingested eggs hatch in the intestinal track and the larvae migrate through the tissues, where they encyst. If larvae migrate to the brain, they can cause seizures and other neurological problems. This condition is called cysticercosis.
Yes it is looks just like a worm but it keeps growing. The longest one in India (where they are most common) was about 123 feet
here you go, check these out.

http://images.google.ca/images?hl=en%26amp;q=t...
it is really thin and nasty
i was learning about it in bio haha
if u have it, dont eat anything for a long time, and hold milk up to your nose so that it comes out and dont tear it or else it will grow again
If it is in a animal they usually come out in segments. . They're flat and white, and when they dry out they look like rice. . Here is a link to a pic, also google it for pictures. Its funny I found this question because me %26 the people at my house are talking about it now, lol!!
Like a long thin tape. It is a parasite in the intestine of man other vertebrates. The body of a tape worm consists of a head called " Scolex ", a short neck, and a " Strobila " made up of a chain of separate segments ( proglottides ). The manure proglottides, full of eggs. The eggs are released from the free end of worm and pass out from the hosts stools. The eggs are then ingested by an intermediate host, in whose tissue, the larva develops. Man is primary host for some species of tapeworms.

A fully grown tapeworm, will be more than a meter depending upon the food availability. Hence a man affected by this worms, look undernourished, as most of the food he consumes, is snatched away by worms.

Be careful, before preparing a meat and mainly pork, dish. Boil it for a longer time.

What does a high blood platelet count mean?

I recieved the results of a blood test in which they told me I had severe abnormalities and a very high platlet count. They are looking at doing bone marrow tests now. What does all this mean?
Answer:
an increased platelet count is known as thrombocytosis
high platlet counts can be a sign of advanced or metastatic malignancy
may have an increased risk of forming a thrombus
puts a person at risk for a bleeding episode
some platelets may be abnormal as to not function correctly in the coagulation process
purpura and polycythemia vera and any condition related to blood abnormalities.
High platelet count means that your blood is having too much of the clotting factor that needs to be diluted by an IV fluid to normalize the concentration. bone marrow test would not be needed.
you have a problem, and they need to see why the blood cells are not reproducing properly. There could be so many causes it is impossible to speculate further unless I could see the actual results, but try not to worry. Thousands of people have bone marrow tests each week, just like you. Good luck

What does a high bilirubin count and a gallbladder ultrasound mean?

My doc informed me that I have a high bilirubin count in my blood and wants me to go in for a gallbladder ultrasound. I am a healthy 26 y.o. female. What could this mean? Is it serious?
Answer:
You may have gallstones. Gallstones can block the ducts leading from your gallbladder to your liver. That's why the doc wants an ultrasound to see if you have stones. Millions of people have them without problems. However, if the duct is blocked completely, it can cause problems with your liver or the gallbladder itself. There are various treatments to get rid of the stones. In some cases, it may require removing your gallbladder. It's a fairly routine surgery.
You could have jaundice. The doc wants you to have a gallbladder scan because it produces bile, the bile breaks down partially into bilirubin, which is supposed to be excreted by your body as waste. If your gallbladder is ruptured or damaged, the bile may be entering your bloodstream.
it may mean you have gallstones or some other obstruction and may need your gallbladder removed. It can happen to anyone healthy or not.

What does a bulging spot found in my cervical spine MRI mean?

Answer:
It usually refers to a bulging of the vertebral disc. This might be an incidental finding, or it can be the source of pain in the neck and upper extremity.

The vertebral disc is filled with a jelly-like substance which is nestled inside a ring of cartilage. Sometimes...either due to trauma or poor posture, the jelly can start to "move" towards the outer ring, causing it to bulge outward. When the disc hits a painful stucture, such as a nerve, pain can ensue.
Could be one of several conditions.

1. Vertebral fracture
2. Disc degeneration
3. Cervical disc herniation
4. Lumbar disc herniation
5. Subluxation
6. A lot more

What does "D.O." mean after my doctor's name?

For example: "Bob A Smith, DO" vs. "Bob Smith, MD".
Answer:
%26lt;%26gt;Doctor of Osteopathy...a "total body" doctor. Here's the difference:
http://www.stronghealth.com/services/pri...
http://www.medschoolchat.com/pdfarticle4...
Doctor of Osteopathy. A doctor who is trained to treat the whole organism of the person rather than just one organ or system when there is a health problem. They also use musculo-skeletal therapy, if needed.
A D.O. is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Osteopathic medicine is a complete system of medical care with a philosophy that combines the needs of the patient with current practice of medicine, surgery and obstetrics. The emphasis is on the interrelationship between structure and function, and has an appreciation of the body鈥檚 ability to heal itself. Osteopathy is defined differently outside the US.

D.O.s are trained to apply the philosophy of treating the whole person (a holistic approach) to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, disease and injury using conventional medical practice such as drugs and surgery, along with manual therapy (Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine or OMM).

As with Doctors of Medicine (M.D.s), D.O.s educated in the United States are fully licensed physicians and surgeons who practice the full scope of medicine.
I have no idea but it's a very very good question,it's about time people stopped hiding behind the letter abbreviations after their name and explained just what it is they do.Have a star
People that are DO's go to Osteopathic medical colleges. Most often, its because they couldn't get into a regular MD earning program.

I personally like the "whole body" approach of DO's however.

What does "CC" stand for when doctors yell "I need ___ CCs of __________, stat!"?

I've gathered that its probably an amount but does anyone know what it stands for?
Answer:
You are right.it's an amount and stands for
Cubic Centimeter...

so go get yourself a cup of 300 cc hot coffee chocolate flavor

cubic centimeters
cubic centimeters ( CC) it is just the abbreviated term. This is a liquid measurement for dosage.
SORRY BUT NOW I KNOW THE OTHER PEOPLE ARE RIGHT.

What do you yawn? If one person yawns, the others also start yawning. Why?

Answer:
No one really knows for sure why yawning is contagious, or even why we yawn, but some studies have been done on this phenomenon. One popular explanation is that yawning allows you to get rid of too much carbon dioxide in your system and increase your oxygen supply, but this has been disproven. You can read more at these links.

What do you wear during an MRI?

i'm having one tomorrow... just wondering.. will they make me take my clothes off and put a gown on or do i wear regular clothes?
Answer:
An MRI is short for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. The emphasis is on Magnetic, you do not have to take off your clothes for this. Simply make sure that you are not wearing anything metal that day and you should be fine. The attendant will ask you to empty your pockets of any metal objects and if you have any piercings with metal rings through them. Other than that you should be able to keep your clothes on.
if it is pre scheduled you will wear a gown only in er do they leave your clothes on and no jewelry and any piercings have to be removed your in luck had one 2 days ago lol
you get to keep your undies and socks on=you can't wear any jewellery and they give you a gown to wear
I've had a MRI done.

Wear regular clothes (they won't make you put on a gown). Make sure your clothes don't have metal in them.
Don't wear jewelry of any kind.
Wear sweats with no metal parts, like eyelets for drawstrings.

You'll be asked to remove your watch, rings, belt if you've got one, glasses, keys and change from your pockets...

That is one monster magnetic field, and you can't have any metal on you.

I can't have an MRI because I have 3 titanium plates and 7 titaniums screws in my face (hey--I broke it in 4 places in one shot!)
Gown.
No metal. Those rooms are kept cold because of the machines (I work in a hospital) so try to wear warm stuff with no type of metal, like sweat pants and socks and t-shirt. They will cover you with a blanket too. You cannot move either, for at least half an hour, so you want to make sure you will be warm and comfortable.
go as comy as you can. nothing metal. wouldn't want to wear jeans cuz of the button. your best bet would be t-shirt, jogging pants, undies and socks ONLY. and hope you can stay still for awhile.
good luck and an mri does suck, lol.

What do you use to cure acne?

I really like home remedies, like hydrogen peroxide and apple cider vinegar, but those just irritated my skin. Unless there is a different method of using it. I just can't afford solutions like ProActive and Lipovox.

Thanks!
Answer:
There are less expensive solutions that work just as well as proactive... I switch the products I use around every couple of months so my skin doesnt get used to it. I have found that Clearasil works well.. Neutrogena Acne Wash, Clearasil Acne Wash. Anything with salycilic works well, but it may dry out your face so moisturize!

Also! I lay out in the sun and use tanning beds, it works wonders for my complexion!!

Hope you find something that works!
use this thing called NOXEMA or something like that lol it usually comes in a blue container thingie. You can buy it Walgreens or any drug store. Wash your face with it twice a day and you'll see the difference. Also you can use the Neutragena thing they announce in commercials it worked great for my skin, same you can by at any drug store. Well I hope I helped bye bye
try using nutrogena oil free acne wash twice or three times a day
also, get out in the sun a lot
antibiotics cleared mine up within a month and mine was bad
just regular rubbing alcohol. also washing with cool water 2 times a day and patting your face dry with a clean towel should help
this works wonders

5 almonds *crushed them
a dime size of wheat flour
and 1 tsp. of honey mix all this until it get into a paste applied this to the acne... use this every night until acne goes away ..
always washed your face before putting this paste on..
Good Luck%26gt;
There are no "home remedies" that will literally
cure your complexion problems. Actually, acne
is not curable per se; you're never going to be
able to go from pimples to perfection.
The best treatment is NEUTROGENA lotion.
It contains granules which will give your skin a
nice massage, and open up your pores so they
can breathe--after it strips away the oils that
your skin builds up various amounts of, every
24 hours or so.
There are several varieties, most of which can
be found in your local supermarket in the same
aisle as shampoos %26 deodorants.
Avoid creams, such as Noxema %26 Ponds. All
creams will do is leave a layer of residue on
your skin.
As for the Proactive package, one of its several
parts is similar to NEUTROGENA lotion; same
sort of texture--but it's nowhere near as effective.
Lipovox? Never heard of that one.
But NEUTROGENA also makes a copule of
anti-bacterial soaps: they're good for your back
and/or chest acne, as well as just for washing
your hands.

Good luck.

What do you think?

What do you all think about the new National I.D. and the Identification microchip they are developing? Do you think it's a good thing?

Also, what do you all think about the similarity in our changing economy to the Bible scripture of Revelations?

And he causes all, small and great, rich and poor, free men and slaves, to have stamped upon them a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, -Revelation 13:16-
Answer:
I absolutely think that the Bible is fulfilling prophecy, as it always does. All over the world, in many different situations. When we see all sorts of craziness everywhere, we shouldn't be surprised or alarmed...rather we should make sure that we know the truth of salvation and that we are prepared for the rapture. This is definately one of the many signs of the end times.
December 21, 2012 - the world is ending, buy that sports car now folks, eat, drink, and be jovial, for tomorrow is here.

Seriously though, yes, I think it is 1984 and Revelations all coming to pass - our technology is going to be our downfall. With great power comes great responsibility.
i don't believe in the book of revelations

What do you think?

well i get sharp pains in my lower right and left side of my back now i get them right under my belly button. It hurts to use the bathroom sometimes. Im 13 and have already begun my period so i know its not the beging of that. What do you think it is? they can be really sharp and painful. I have to go see the doc today at 9 then go back to school. What will the doctor ask me do you think? i know he will prob ask about my period but that doesnt embarress me, but what other things will he ask cuz my moms coming with me so.id like to know
Answer:
I dont know what the doctor may ask but, he may diagnose you with Gallstones, urinary tract infection or irritable bowel disease. Let me know how you go.
Well, it could possibly be a urinary tract infection. I think you will have to urinate in a cup. And there is no telling what some doctors may ask.

What do you think?

how could pharmacists be change agents?
Answer:
Huh???

I don't understand what you mean by "change agents".
Please explain.

What do you think of Size 0?

Do you think it looks attractive or like a 'scrawny bag of bones'?
Answer:
I think it's unfair to judge a size alone, because some people (especially young teens) are naturally that size, so it suits them and will be attractive on them. If a woman aspires to be a size zero, then that's where I think the trouble starts, as if you're not meant to be that naturally small, then it will look awful and ugly. If I went to a size zero, I'd look half dead and I doubt anyone would find me attractive (I'm a UK 10, and it suits me just fine).
bag of Bones.
Good at 20 not so good at 40
The latter.
It's too thin,
Lara Croft is fictional!
Curvy and healthy is better.
Bag of bones!
sickening and any other word i love a woman with flesh rounded sort off but of course not fat
Size 0 is absolute cr*p. No-one should be starving themselves to look as ugly as that. It is time that ALL females made a stand and put an END to this ridiculous size debate. Size 0 is just another way to keep women feeling inferior and competing against each other.
Scrawny but not scrawny enough, for some , apparently as the new aim is 00 (double zero)!
a scrawny bag of bones - there is nothing wrong with having a bit of flesh and some curves.
Depends what you are attracted to. I wouldnt want to be that thin
i wear a size 0 but i also rock a nice *** so yeah most size 0 have no curves but sum lucky 1s like me do.! lol =]

dont forget sum pplz wear a size 00 from like abercrombie and fitch
I think a size 0 is disgusting and not attractive what so ever, looks VERY UNHEALTHY, I would rather have some curves to my body that be a stick...
I think if u r size 0 then GAIN WEIGHT!
i think it all depends on there height.
if they're short than it doesn't look bad
but if Ur tall it would look disgusting!
but if Ur a size 0 I'd hope you were younger than 30
My wife is a size 6 uk so size 4 US, and it gets to her about all this unhealthy bag of bones stuff!! she eats like a horse but whatever she does she doesnt put on weight.yet the media make out everyone who is this size must be chucking up after every meal. Its not true!
Bag of bones. I think guys would prefer a girl with bigger boobs and a nice butt instead of a straight, manly figure. I wouldn't feel like a woman if I was a size 0. Besides, it's very unattractive to see someone who doesn't appreciate their health.
On a petit little small boned young woman, it's perfectly normal and natural. On a bigger framed woman it looks sickly.
I think its horrible, most of the size zeroes look like they could die at any second, give me a real woman any day.
it is a scrawny bag of bones,i've been there and i wouldn't want to be that thin again i was sick, i looked dead , had no energy and was basically a wreck i am a size 10-12 now and happy ,i kept some of the clothes to remind me never to go back there again, they fit my 8 year old ,looks good on her average size for her age (good job they were short skirts) but it's really sick to see adults even teens in that state.
I, personally think it is too small for a grown woman. I like a woman with some meat on her bones. However I do know that there is more to a woman then just what she looks like. People should learn to love themselves for who they are and not what they look like.
I think it's horrible =)
HOT!!
I think everyone is beautiful we are all unique and to be a size 0 , is friggin ridiculous. Curves are more fun and more attractive. I use to have a problem with my body shape and was nearly anorexic in my teens. I think society has a bad influence on us and it is unfair. THERE SHOULD BE ALL SHAPES AND SIZES ON THE CATWALKS, CATALOUGUES, MAGAZINES ETC....AS THE CLOTHES THE MODELS WEAR NOW WOULD EVEN LOOK RIDICULOUS ON ME AT A HEALTHY SIZE 10. oooh i get so mad when people say you need to be this and that, all i can say is be yourself and be happy.:)
need to see a pic
Scrawny bag of bones. Size zero is going too far. I always moan about my weight and being a twelve but I would never in a million years want to be a size zero.
Depends how tall you are. Depends if you have curves or not.
I think it looks absolutely horrendous, why anyone would want to do that to themselves is beyond me, they have no shape, no breast, waist or bottom and look like their body is on back to front, I really wonder if they realise what sort of damage they are doing to their vital organs.
please, It's not even a size.
I agree with the vast majority of people who have already answered your question. Size 0 is very definitely NOT attractive.

What do you think of RightHealth.com?

Hey folks, we all know that health information online continues to get richer, diverse and more fragmented. I'm a product manager at RightHealth.com (a top 20 health website in the U.S, 1.5 million visitors per month).

I'd love to hear the community's feedback on our site (good, bad, ugly!!). Your input will help us build a better site and serve consumers better.

Thanks!
Answer:
I took a look at your site. My impression is that it is mostly a health-related search engine that refines the results you would normally get doing your own search. It is nice to have a separate area for Wikipedia entry and an area for blogs. The tools on the left seem helpful, and the links to top websites are also good ones.

There were also some curious things about the site, so I will mention those that occurred to me, and I hope you will take these ideas as constructive criticism.

The Explore Connections area seems interesting, but the results sometimes don't make sense. If you search for "interstitial cystitis," it lists vasectomy, cystectomy, and anesthesia under medical procedures. This implies that these are treatments for that condition, which is not exactly the case. I sure hope people are not treating IC with vasectomies! So that part might need a little work. Also under the information provided for IC, it lists forums, but not the Interstitial Cystitis Network, which I think is a good one.

In the Anatomy section, it lists "ids" along with the body parts. I am not sure what part of the body that is. "Brca2" is also listed along with the body parts, but it does not seem to fit there (it is also spelled BRCA2, I believe).

Unlike some other areas, the nutrition area does not say that it was generated automatically, so I assume you are controlling the content there. It seems a little heavy (no pun intended) on the Atkins diet. There is a lot of contradictory information about diets out there on the internet, and I think your site would benefit from including some sites about a low-fat, plant-based diet, since that is the diet that has been shown by researchers to reverse coronary artery disease. Take a look at pcrm.org, for a start. Another useful web site is NutritionData.com, where you can get nutritional info for just about anything.

The prevention area could be enhanced. Prevention is an extremely important part of health, and if you are controlling the content in that area, you can really do people a service by including information about not smoking, healthy diets (as above), exercise, and reducing various risky behaviors.

Judging by people's questions here on Yahoo!Answers, there is also a lot of interest in symptom-checking sites and in sites where you can ask for medical opinions online. You might want to add an area with links for those types of sites.

Hope this helps. Good luck with your site.

What do you think is wrong with my eye?

I woke up with my eyelashes all "crusty" - for lack of a better term, and my eye was all red and filled with a (sorry to be so graphic...) ***** sort of goop. Its very teary and more goop comes out every so often. It is a little sore, but mostly just teary and goopy. One eye is much worse than the other. Is it pink-eye? One other thing - I started wearing a new pair of contacts this week - and wore them yesterday for about 12 hours. Maybe this is why it happened? I've worn contacts off and on for years - I take care of them properly and doubt this is the problem. I'd appreciate any ideas you might have. Thanks!
Answer:
It sounds like pink-eye to me. Take out your contacts and get some Ciproflox (antibiotic) eye drops from your doctor.
Please see a doctor immediately. This might be a serious eye infection.
trust me its nothing, its all a dream, soon u will wake up and find nothings wrong...but however if you find its real then i meediatly ask you to consult a doctor!

and remember (x-2)(x-2)= x^2 -4x +4
Might be an infection from contacts you wear. See a doctor.

What do you think is happening when my gf finds it hard to breathe and her fist closes anf her arms stiffens?

Please help me im a bit worried.. that happened last day.. she said that she finds it difficult to breathe and her fist was closed and she cant move her arms.. we are running to alot of troubles lately.. is that a result from stress? shes far away fro me now.. she said the doctor said dont think of alot of things.. this is the first time i heard that this happened to her though there are several times that she says to me that she finds it difficult to breathe when shes crying about problems.. but that was the first time that she cant move her arms.. thanks..
Answer:
I would like to guess that she is having major panic attacks. She should go to the doctor right away for help. Remind her to deep breathe, fully in, fully out to try to get out of that state when they are happening. She may need to go on an anti anxiety med temporarily to get her nervous system back under control.
Sounds like she could be having seizures. If her doctor thinks she's fine, she should change doctors or at least get a second opinion. With regard to having trouble breathing when she's crying, that sounds like a "panic attack". But the arms not moving, fist clenched description that you gave sounds like it could be a seizure.
she could have asthma
Weight problem, panic attack, asthma starting to develop. All possibilities.
I t sound like one of 2 things to me...either asthma or a panic disorder. She really should seek a second opinion if she is not getting answers from her doc. Both are very manageable once diagnosed and properly treated.

What do you think happens to a persons soul if they die in their sleep? do they stay asleep or wake up?

Answer:
If they are a Christian (that is, if they have placed their faith in Jesus Christ) then they will find themselves before God when their body dies. If not a Christian, then they will find themselves, sadly, in hell. Make the choice now before it's too late! You can't decide after you are dead.

www.theseeksite.org.
they are dead, so neither
If you are dead you don't wake up, so not really sure what the question is. Besides, who on ByeDr.com would possibly know the answer to this question?
The soul does not sleep, so neither does it wake.
i think when u die u wake up from a dream like u were sleeping
I hope they wake up in Heaven
they will stay asleep and the spirit will get out from the body
It depends on what you believe. No,I dont believe they do.
I think they stay asleep but their soul knows whats happening and is accepting this. I work with sick people and this whole death thing makes me think. But I truley believe that when the time comes they know fully what is happening evn if they are asleep. Personally, I'd rather die asleep.
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. II Corinthians 5:8
John 3: 16, 17 These scriptures are referring to your soul when your body dies.
I am a firm beleiver in God. No one truely knows what happens after death, but in my heart, I beleive they wake up, and watch over us, until the day we meet again.
There is no sleep for a soul. When you died, your soul is released. So it does not mater if the person is asleep or awake.
Isn麓t your soul like your unconciente, what makes you trascend . well your inconcient never sleeps or else how would you sleep!?
The soul is always aware.
The wake up dead.

What do you think about whites and blacks not getting along?

im tired of everyone not getting along the blacks hate the whites and the whites hate the blacks cant we all get along
Answer:
No one gets along with everyone all the time, not even their own family. It's not practical to believe they will. Attempting to "get along" with people who view life differently is even more unlikely. "Hate" is a strong word for it. Lack of understanding is a better description. The world is seen from many eyes, some just more unseeing than others.

What do you think about the "pillow angel" surgeries...compassionate, or not?

http://www.cnn.com/2007/health/05/08/ash...

after working with developmentally disabled people, one woman in particular comes to mind. Her family might have been able to take care of her for longer if she had had this surgery. now, she lives in a "home" far away from her parents and leads a very sad life. I agree with the parents on this one.
Answer:
I hope I'm never in this situation, but if I were, I would elect to have the surgery. I totally agree with you.
