What do i need to bring to the emergency room?

Ive had a bad cough for a week %26#92;, and now im starting to cough up blood, i want to go to the hospital but i don't know what to bring.
Answer:
ID, insurance cards if you have insurance, a drink and snack (and/or vending machine money), a book, and any meds you've been taking.

They'd have to help you even if you don't have the ID and insurance, but the easier you make things on them (by providing the info) and the more likely you are to get them paid (proof of insurance) will result in you getting better treatment (unfortunate but true)... bring whatever IDs you have and if you're insurance card is lost try to bring something with the insurance name and phone number/billing address and they should be able to look up your coverage with your social security number.

Now, GO!
Your instruance card and a method of payment.
well, you dont need to bring anything just go (you could bring a napkin to cover your mouth and maybe a pen)
they'll want an insurance card..of course....and maybe a change of clothes....go there now !!!!!!!!!!
Maybe you can bring a stuffed animal you love. Or a loved one/friend. You shouldn't bring anything that might embarrass you.
just take your id and your medical ins card if you have ins and you can take any medication you are taking -or just tell them if you are taking any when they ask even the otc -and be sure and tell tehm if you are allergic to any medictions.
clothes, toothbrush, brush or whatever toiletries you need. magazines, word find, robe, pajamas, snacks, slippers, cell phone, money. hope this help sweetie! Get well soon!!
Insurance card, check book, yourself, and a list of meds you regularly take (if any)... they will most likely get a sputum sample from you in the hospital, so there's not really a need for you to save your bloody mucus in a cup or anything
you may be suffering from T.B, all you need is your hospital card and some cash or if by billing, your company can handle the expenses.
Just one thing to take to the emergency room...YOU! Get over there right away. If you are coughing up a little bit of blood, it could be because all the coughing has irritated your throat and caused a small amount of bleeding. But if there is a lot of blood, may be lungs or something or serious. Your family, friends, neighbor could bring you what you need. If you don't have anyone to do that for you, then take only your wallet, med card, cell phone, the essentials. The hospital (if they admit you) will supply toothbrush, soap, towels, deoderant, etc. Good luck and God Bless!
Hmmm, what to bring, what to bring. The ER will supply most of your needs. They require you wear their johnnies for ease of examination and treatment. They probably wouldn't mind if you brought your own slippers as theirs are just the pits. You might want to bring some toiletries like make up, tooth brush, etc. as ER visits can be very lengthy. And something to help you pass the time. A walkman comes to mind. I like crossword puzzles and I love to read so I always bring a good book. You could bring a deck of cards, some knitting or other small project like beads,,unless you are so sick that this makes no sense.
If and when you are admitted, it will matter more what items you have with you from home.
Good luck.
Your Blue Cross card, list of all your medications, and the
name of your doctor.
bring your money and a family member you can also bring a pillow cause most of theres are crapy!!!
Take the Id you have. In most states they CAN NOT turn you down if it's a real emergency, which i'm sure coughing up blood is. Tell them what insurance you have, they may be able to look it up. If not, you can get taken care of now and apply for a new card and take it back when you get your first bill. Also, you might wanna take a warm blanket, like a throw it gets kinda cold in there and some extra socks. Emergency room floors get pretty nasty.
Before I get into what you would need let me ask you this. You said you have been having a bad cough for a week and now your coughing up blood. Have you contacted your primary care provider and tried to make an appointment before this? If you didn't you should have because it probably wouldn't have got to this point if you had. I would suggest that you call your local emergency room and speak to the triage nurse and tell him/her your symptoms and they will tell you if going to the emergency room is your best option or not (I'm only a nursing student and I don't know you or your situation so I wouldn't even begin to guess.) If he/she says you should come in right away then you can ask them what you will need with you. I would say off the top of my head you will need your insurance card and photo identification at the very least. If you can, bring any copies of recent medical records you have, this would include results of any blood work or tests that you have done and information about any medication your taking. You should call right away though, I wouldn't let this wait any longer then it already has.

Good luck! :)
most don't worry that much about the ID. tell them it was just stolen yesterday if they try to hassle you. just bring water forms of ID that you have.

you need to get a new form of picture ID ASAP.

always bring water, etc. and something to read when going the the ER or DMV..lol
