What do the numbers engraved on my pills indicate?

My Zocor tablets have numbers engraved on them...on both sides. The same numbers on each pill. 7156 on one side and 93 on the other side. What do they mean and how do I find out more??
Answer:
it identifies the medication and it's manufacturer
physican's desk reference is a book that supplies pictures and descriptions of pills appearance
1-800-222-1222
That is the number for the national poison control center. They will answer your question for you completely.
Lets say that one day you collapse on the street. Someone calls an ambulance and you end up in ER. They need to know if you are one medication and if they locate some 'drugs' in your pocket, they can tell by first the tablet or capsule, colored or white tablet, colored or white capsule, then by the identifying marks unique to each product may include manufactures name, brand name of the drug product or a reference number. Obviously if they are 'illegal' drugs they will not have these specific marking.
In times of emergency it is important to know what the Patients medication is, as the patient might have taken a overdose, or be taking illegal drugs.
